Alrighty....so you want to know what a Liszt Laughing?
is huh...
Well, my name is Doug and I live in Indiana in the
good 'ole USA. Here is a picture of me from way back in high school:
I assure you my
stomach is much larger now...and no more
hair...and although I like having my hair extremely
short now I really hated getting a burr cut when I
was a kid...and I've been told I play much better
nowdays...I have a day job (good
thing) and a son. Typical Americana...
| So why the
name Liszt Laughing? and why a classical CD?
When I was in college, my roommate would
play Franz Liszt (one of the greatest of the
Romantic Era composers/pianists/teachers) over and over. So, I kinda grew
fond of the 'ole boy...to me it's seems a noble
and romantic pursuit to be a great
composer...Of course, if Liszt was around he |
| could be
asked how romantic it was to be on tour and travel from
city to city in the middle of the night on a horse propelled coach.
He could tell
stories about getting the thing unstuck, or
the time it was so cold he had ice cubes in
his beard. But anyway, I thought I would pretend to be
great musical mind, and that I would try to step inside a 19th
century classical composer's head by
studying some of the things he/she did. If you would like to read

There are other things more
important in life, but I keep coming back to music
for some sort of fulfillment. I guess it's a part
of me...I used to sit at my grandmother's organ
and attempt to compose things...I went to the
library in college and read books on music theory
rather than do my homework...not that I'm an
expert, and I've forgotten a lot of it...but
anyway, that's some of what a Liszt Laughing?
is...
